Forklifts were first being developed in the early 1900's and were designed with the specific need of easier material handling.
They have been developed and improved upon for many years and are now grouped in seven different classes.
CLASS I - these are electric driven and the operator rides on the
machine.
CLASS III - electric motor but the operator walk and control the machine
from the ground.
CLASS IV - these forklifts are internal combustion engines where the
operator rides on the machine and with solid rubber cushioned tires that
are ideal for smooth terrain such as roads or warehouses.
CLASS V - these forklifts are internal combustion engines where
the operator rides on the machine. They have air filled or pneumatic
tires that are usually best suited for outside and uneven terrains.
CLASS VII -- these forklifts are designed for rough terrain and are well
suited for driving through dirt, mud and other drastic conditons that a
CLASS V is usually not capable of working in.
