Electric forklifts are a fairly new forklift that is well suited for indoor warehouse applications where an internal combustion engine is too polluting to use. These forklifts come in a variety of forms; air filled tires, solid rubber tires, stand up forklifts manufactured for narrow isle material handling.
The electric motors are commonly powered by batteries that can be either AC or DC and even fuel cell models available. In some cases the battery itself is so heavy it is considered part of the counterweight needed for heavy lifting applications. Almost all of today's forklift manufacturers provide an electric model.
